The Nintendo Switch has been doing well in 2018 despite the lack of major 1st party titles. But that's all going to change for the better in the form of Super Smash Bros Ultimate when it arrives on December 7th. Yet, despite the game being less than two months away, the game is still a bit of a mystery in certain aspects. We don't know some of the modes we'll get to do, we don't know how many more characters are in the main rosters, and we don't know if Nintendo has any more surprises for fans. But this Thursday, we will find out more than likely.
This is because Nintendo has announced on Twitter that there will be a final Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and it will be on Thursday, November 1st. This reveal comes off of weeks of speculation and rumors about whether we'd get another one before or after the release of Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee. Which clearly means that Nintendo wants to get this out of the way so that all of their focus can be on Pikachu and Eevee's game rather than Smash Bros, which is already guaranteed to be one of the best-selling games on the Switch.
As with the Nintendo Direct that came for Smash Bros in December, the Direct will focus solely on Ultimate, and, it'll be 40 minutes long. All but guaranteeing not only multiple characters reveals, but also in-depth looks into the game that will continue the string of information that Nintendo has been feeding us since E3 2018.
Naturally, Smash Bros fans are going to be curious about whether recent Smash Bros Ultimate leak in regards to the character roster is true. The "leak" stated that Shadow the Hedgehog, Ken from Street Fighter, Banjo-Kazooie, Isaac from Golden Sun, Geno from Super Mario RPG, Mach Rider, and Chorus Kids from the Rhythm Heaven series were going to be in the game. And ever since, fans have been doing all they could to either prove or disprove, the leak.
Which calls into question, did the Direct get moved forward because of the leak? Or, was this the plan the whole time, and the Direct will prove that the leak was only partially right, or not right all? Only the Direct will tell us. But, fans must also take into account that the creator of the series, Masahiro Sakurai, has said that reveals of characters would be much slower, and so, they may only reveal a few for the game right now, and save the rest for launch. It's unclear what will happen.
There's also the mystery main mode that Sakurai teased in the last Nintendo Direct. Is it the "Spirits" mode that was rumored months ago? Or does Sakurai have something else intended for Ultimate?
One thing that is clear is that after the Direct there will be a live Nintendo Treehouse presentation. One that will feature not only Super Smash Bros Ultimate, but also, Yoshi's Crafted World, and more. The Nintendo Direct will be on 9 AM/PST on November 1st. Stay tuned for any updates!
Tune in 11/1 for roughly 40 minutes of new information in the final Super #SmashBrosUltimate #NintendoDirect before the game’s release, hosted by Director Masahiro Sakurai!
