Itch.io is a wonderful place. It's never been quite the mammoth that Steam is, nor does it have to be. Instead, it provides an alternative realm for PC games by frequently featuring smaller indie developers and projects. That effort rings no truer than with their latest move, and it's one that ripples further out to support some really good causes. A few days ago, the website unveiled their Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. This massive game bundle started out selling 742 unique indie games, and has since grown in size to over 1,000. The total asking price for the entire collection? A mere $5. It's an incredibly good deal for such a staggering amount of content, and even better is that the proceeds are being split down the middle for both the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund AND the Community Bail Fund.

"We live in a time of racial injustice, inequality, and police brutality against black people," the bundle's description reads. "We hope that everyone takes a stand in any way that they can. We've partnered with creators from all across our platform to support organizations that are working directly with those affected." The bundle started out with the goal of raising $1 million total. Needless to say they've since smashed past that goal. At the time of this writing, they're sitting close to $3 million raised with a new goal of $5 million total. Itch.io also provides further relevant links to support the Black Lives Matter movement. As you likely already know, this has all come about due to the controversial killing of George Floyd; a shocking murder that put another spotlight on police brutality and racial injustice in the US, and one that ignited countless protests across the nation. Everyone's doing their part, and this is Itch.io's way of doing just that.

The bundle features games from over 560 different creators. The games listed range from well-known indie hits like Night in the Woods, Oxenfree, and Tonight We Riot to smaller projects from lesser-known developers and studios. If you want to, the purchase allows you to donate more than $5. Every bit helps towards the ultimate goal and overall cause. Itch.io notes that no Steam keys will be given out for any of the bundle purchases; rather, you'll be able to download each game individually from the list on Itch.io once the purchase has been made. If you happen to be an indie developer yourself and want to feature your own game as part of the bundle, the site is encouraging anyone interested to go ahead. All you have to do is reply to the top-level post on the linked thread, which you'll find on the main page for the bundle. This is largely part of why the collection has grown so much over just the past few days.

Make sure you go through with the purchase while you can. The bundle will be available for sale for 5 more days as of this writing, so the quicker you check it out the better. If any games are added to the bundle after you've purchased it, they'll automatically be added to the list for you to download whenever you please. Since the vast majority of these titles are indie games, this also means you won't have to worry much about if your PC can run them. It's a treasure-trove, for lack of a better description. You can view the full list and bundle details on Itch.io. The total worth of the games combined so far is a whopping $7,891, while the total creator count has shot up to 1,000. It's heartwarming to see the indie community come together like this for a good cause. With the amount of money raised already (AND five days still to go), we can rest assured knowing it's going to make a helpful difference.
