Pictures of the Linux-powered Ataribox joystick have been released and it looks beautiful. If you're a fan of retro video games (especially the Atari 2600), you will defiantly appreciate the design of the Ataribox and its joystick. The joystick stays true to the original Atari 2600 design but also gives it a splash of modern style. It looks appealing to the old gamer who grew up with the original console and to those who want to give it a whirl for the first time.
With the Ataribox it's said that you would able to play classic Atari 2600 games along with some modern games that they plan on releasing. The console will be running Linux and sports a TV-friendly user interface similar to Steam's Big Picture Mode. This will allow you to run games on the Ataribox without the need for a keyboard and mouse. Even though I only played the Atari 2600 a few times as a kid, I'm excited about the new console because I can appreciate where gaming came from.
