Were you one of the many who tuned in to the Capcom Cup during the PlayStation Experience in December of last year? It was a glorious time for Capcom fans and fighting game fans alike, but nothing could've prepared everyone for the awesome reveal during the finals of the Street Fighter tournament: In honor of its 30th anniversary, 2018 would see the release of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, a huge compilation of Street Fighter games on consoles and PC both. Details were left at that, with a promised release of sometime in May, though it wasn't known which day. That happily changes today, as Capcom announced on the PlayStation Blog that the game will finally release on May 29th, just before E3 swings around.

The game will be on every current-gen platform available (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC). However, you'll want to decide carefully which platform you get it on, as certain versions come with additional bonuses. For the PlayStation 4 version, pre-ordering the game nets you a free copy of Ultra Street Fighter IV, which just makes the already big collection that much bigger, and extends the compilation's games even closer towards the modern Street Fighters.

If that doesn't sound as much up your alley, Nintendo Switch users will be getting something quite unique for themselves: Tournament Battle. That's right, THE Tournament Battle. Tournament Battle was an arcade-only version of Super Street Fighter 2 that let eight people use four arcade cabinets to compete in a 'bracket' style tournament and decide on one true winner. The Switch version of the collection will have a recreated version of this mode available in Super Street Fighter 2, letting people play locally and compete in much the same way. With that being said, if you have to make a choice between platforms, make sure to keep all of these facts in mind.

This collection is an absolute must for both Street Fighter fans and gamers who haven't had a chance to really try or get into the series, and both can enjoy it at last on May 29th, only two months from now. Additional details may follow at a later date. Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection compiles a whopping total of twelve games, from the original Street Fighter, all the way to Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. Here's the full list of what to expect:

  • Street Fighter
  • Street Fighter 2
  • Street Fighter 2: Champion Edition
  • Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Street Fighter 2
  • Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo
  • Street Fighter Alpha
  • Street Fighter Alpha 2
  • Street Fighter Alpha 3
  • Street Fighter 3
  • Street Fighter 3: 2nd Impact
  • Street Fighter 3: Third Strike
