Castlevania is a 2D platformer game that was developed and published by Konami. It was initially developed for the Famicom Disk System in Japan but was later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) for release in North America. This is the first game in a long series of Castlevania games setting the tone for many Castlevania games to come. In the game, the player controls the vampire hunter Simon Belmont who must enter Dracula's castle and defeat him. Simon uses a whip as his main weapon swinging it around to attack his enemies. The whip can be upgraded as you progress in the game doing more damage to enemies and also having its length increased allowing you to reach enemies at a farther distance.
