Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a RPG video game developed by Square and published by Nintendo that was originally released for the Super Nintendo. Super Mario RPG was released for the Wii virtual console, Wii U virtual console and later released as part of the Super NES Classic Edition system lineup of video games. The game has 5 playable characters, which are unlocked at different points in the game's story and is the first RPG game in the series of Mario games. In Super Mario RPG, Mario and his friends must defeat the Smithy Gang, which is controlled by Smithy, a robotic blacksmith that stole all 7 star peices from the Star Road.
