Bomberman is a 2D maze game developed by Hudson Soft. It is the first game in the Bomberman series, originally released for various computer platforms in Japan but later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in North America. In Bomberman, the player controls a robot who has to find his way through mazes with the use of bombs. He can place down bombs to dispatch his enemies as well as use bombs to try to find the exit in each level. Bomberman gains upgrades that allow him to carry more bombs and upgrades that make his bomb's blast radius larger allowing them to reach farther.
