Contra is a 2D run 'n' gun video game developed and published by Konami, originally developed for the arcade, and was released in 1987. It was later released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), along with ports to many other platforms. Contra is set in the year 2633 A.D when the evil Red Falcon Organization has set a base in the Galuga archipelago and is trying to wipe out the human race. You take control of one of two commandos, Bill Rizer or Lance Bean from the Earth Marine Corp's Contra unit, and must stop Red Falcon Organization from destroying everything. You start off with a default rifle that can be replaced with one of the four other stronger weapons, which are considered powerups.
