Metroid is a 2D action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo. It was originally released in Japan for the Famicom Disk System but later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and released in North America. The game takes place on Planet Zebes with Samus Aran attempting to retrieve a Metroid that was stolen by Space Pirates. In Metroid, the player controls Samus Aran on the Planet Zebes fighting against many different types of alien enemies, collecting power-ups along the way to be able to defeat stronger enemies.
