Mortal Kombat is an arcade fighting game developed and published by Midway. It is the first game in the Mortal Kombat series of games, later released for multiple consoles. The player controls one of my characters that must compete in the Mortal Kombat martial arts tournament in order to stop Shang Tsung and Goro from taking over the Earthrealm. Mortal Kombat features one-on-one matches where the last one standing wins the match. It was the first fighting game to feature Fatalities, a finishing move performed on your opponent in a gruesome fashion. The game has spawned multiple sequels and has even made its way to the theatre screen in multiple movie adaptations.
