Released: Sep 1995
Castlevania: Dracula X is a platforming/action/adventure game released first in Japan in 1995 before coming to other regions farther down the line. The game is actually a remixed version of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, a Super CD-ROM game from two years earlier. Basically, Dracula X was responsible for bringing Rondo of Blood to the West (and on consoles, no less!). The game has a number of differences from Rondo of Blood, however, such as reworked levels with less emphasis on exploration, new music, cut bosses, and some plot differences. These changes still remain controversial to this day, though the gameplay is exactly what you'd expect from the Castlevania series, featuring challenging platforming and enemies in a gothic setting.
