Leveling Guide & Tips

Below you will find some beginner tips for Dead Frontier 2.

Safe Zones

The game has 3 outposts or (safe zones). You will spend a good amount of time in these as they provide you a place to grab or hand in quests, item storage, merchants (to buy and sell items), and a place to train new skills. Once you reach a certain level you can move to a new region that surrounds the safe zone in that area.

  • Dallbow - Dallbow is the zone you start off in, you will be here from level 1 through level 19.
  • Haverbrook - Once you reach level 20, you're going to want to make your way to Haverbrook.
  • Greywood - Greywood is level 40 and up. This is considered the end-game area.

Horde Events

The best way to gain experience points is to participate in the outpost attacks. Every 4 hours a horde will attack one of the outposts (the location is random) and if you're near that outpost and around the level for the area, this is the best way to gain quick experience due to the exp multiplier given. Each horde event lasts 20 minutes and you will gain a 20% or 40% boost towards experience gain depending on how many zombies you kill.

Locked Doors

The locked doors in the game usually contain better loot. Some of the keys can be found on dead corpses and if you hover over them in your inventory, you can see what building and door the key is for.

Tips

  • Use melee weapons whenever you can so you're able to conserve ammo. It is easy to start off a fight with a melee weapon instead of going straight for a gun.
  • Explore each area in full so you don't accidentally miss quest givers that are out of the way.
  • Headshots matter, go for them whenever you can. They will do the most damage to the enemy.
  • Use your vehicle to store extra items. This will allow you to carry more items with you.
  • Make sure to gain a few levels before leaving the police station. There are plenty of quests around there to help you level when you first start out.
  • Do quests in areas that are appropriate for your current level. If the enemies are too high level, you will struggle, if they are too low level, you won't get enough experience to level fast enough.

Melee Weapons

Melee weapons are a good way to conserve ammo but they come at a cost. They will make you more vulnerable to being attacked by zombies. There is a way to avoid this though, whenever you swing your melee weapon at a zombie, quickly turn in the opposite direction. This will keep you from stepping forward and getting attacked.
