Tilapia in Stardew Valley

Tilapia is a fish in Stardew Valley that is easy to catch but often overlooked. One of these reasons is because of the time the fish is catchable. Most people are tending to tasks on their farm during these catchable hours and miss out on the window the Tilapia can be caught.

Tilapia is an ocean fish and is needed to complete the main story in Stardew Valley by means of the Community Center.

How to Catch Tilapia in Stardew Valley?

To catch Tilapia in Stardew Valley, grab your trusty fishing rod (fishing pole) and head to the beach just south of Pelican Town. You are able to catch Tilapia during the Summer and Fall seasons between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Of course, you will always be able to use Magic Bait to catch Tilapia during any season or time of day as long as you have a Fiberglass Rod or Iridium Rod.

Tilapia is a fish with mixed behavior, meaning that it is a slow-moving fish and is easier to catch compared to other fish in Stardew Valley. This makes Tilapia a fish that can be caught with the most basic of fishing gear.

Stardew Valley Tilapia

If you are playing on a different map other than the default Stardew Valley map (Standard Farm), such as Beah Farm, just head to the beach around the map to catch Tilapia.

Ginger Island

If you already repaired the boat inside Willy’s Fish Shop, you will have access to Ginger Island. On Ginger Island, you can do some fishing for Tilapia, which can be caught there during any season. But if you have access to this, that means you have already obtained Tilapia by other means.

Traveling Cart

You might also find that the Travelling Merchant in Cindersap Forest will occasionally sell Tilapia anywhere from 225g - 1,000g.

Krobus' Shop

Once you have unlocked the sewer using the Sewer Key, you will be able to find Tilapia for purchase from Krobus' Shop. You will be able to purchase the fish from the shop on Wednesdays for 200g each when they are available.

Fish Pond

Like all fish in Stardew Valley, you can use the fish pond in the game to reproduce them. They reproduce every 2 days and the pond's capacity can be increased from the initial 3 to 10 by completing quests at the Fish Pond. Tilapia can also be used to produce Roe while they are in the Fish Pond.

Bundles

As mentioned earlier, Tilapia is needed to complete the main storyline involving the Community center in Pelican Town. You will need this fish to complete the Ocean Fish Bundle at the fish tank.

Recipes

Like other fish in Stardew Valley, Tilapia has no specific recipe that requires it. It can be used for recipes such as Maki Roll, Quality Fertilizer, Sashimi, or to tailor a Sailor Shirt.

Gifting

Unfortunately, Tilapia is not very useful when it comes to gifting in Stardew Valley. None of the villagers love the fish and because of this, it doesn't help much improve your friendship points with anyone.
