Trees

Stardew Valley has 4 main types of trees, all of which serve a purpose in the game. Trees can either be used for getting wood or you can use a tapper on a tree to extra sap from it.

Wood from trees is needed for the construction of farm buildings like the Coop or Barn and is needed to craft numerous recipes.

Maple Tree

Maple trees can be chopped down for wood or used to produce Maple Syrup. By attaching a tapper to the maple tree, you can extract maple syrup every 9 days or every 4-5 days using the heavy tapper. If you chop down the maple tree can get up to 16 pieces of wood and possibly maple seeds, which you can use to plant more maple trees.

Maple Syrup is needed to craft things like the Bee House and is needed to complete the Chef’s Bundle in the Community Center.

Mahogany Tree

Mahogany trees are different than the other 3 common trees in Stardew Valley as it yields Hardwood when chopped down instead of standard wood. When the mahogany tree is tapped it will produce Sap daily no matter which tap you attach to it. Chopping down the mahogany tree can yield up to 10 hardwood and has a chance to drop Mahogany Seeds.

How to Plant Tree

To plant a tree in Stardew Valley you will need to place a tree seed on the ground. This would include Maple Seeds, Acorns, Pine Cones, and Mahogany Seeds.

You don’t have to till the group to plant trees, but the tree can only be placed in every other square or they won’t fully mature. Trees will need one free space in every direction not to have their growth obstructed.

Trees can take an average of 28 days to fully grow. You can speed this up by using Tree Fertilizer. You will need to be level 7 in foraging to craft it and it will require 5 fiber and 5 stones to make it. Sprinkle it on a planted seed or sapling to apply it.
